Choir

frontwindowMusic is such a fundamental part of our Christian heritage. It is often said that by singing to God, you pray twice. The St. Paul’s Choir helps lead our congregation in joyful music to God and serves at our Sunday morning 10:00 service and most of our special services throughout the year. Our organist and Choir Director is Kedron Miller.

Kedron Miller assumed the Organist/Choir Director position beginning November 1, 2009.  Under Kedron’s direction, the choir immediately changed from singing unison anthems to singing in parts.  The choir learned several new anthems that were added to church choral library and new folders were purchased for the choir members to store their music.  Several anthems were also generously donated by Sherri Zelina.

The members of the choir have become more confident in their ability to sing as a choral ensemble.  There is no longer a fear among the choir members of a “brown bag” Sunday (please ask a choir member to explain the symbolism of the brown bag).  Over the past 6 months, it is noteworthy to mention that the choir has received enthusiastic applause from the congregation at three different worship services.

There were also several offerings of special music over the past few months.  Some of these highlights included:

  • Christmas Eve (featuring the Christmas Pageant and special anthems by the choir)
  • A Service of Lessons and Carols (featuring Gail Lindsay and special anthems by the choir)
  • The Great Litany (chanted by Kedron Miller)
  • Good Friday (featuring two special solos sung by Craig Snyder)
  • Easter (featuring Paul Hydrean on the trumpet and special anthems by the choir)

The choir has rehearsals on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. and sings at the 10:00 a.m. worship service preceded by a practice/warm-up at 9:15 a.m. on Sundays.  Additional rehearsals were added on Tuesday evenings prior to Christmas Eve and Easter.

Choir rehearsals are held at 7:30 PM Thursday night, and 9:30 AM on Sundays.
